J.L. Moultrie: ‘anti-sonnet’, ‘axiom’, and ‘untitled god poem’

anti-sonnet

layers of autumn leaves the clearing’s confession
the woven seas persisted in altered states eluding
my castigated shell desires inspired by the candor
of oleander my hells didn’t include verity, silence
or the subtle violence of prayer

axiom

faced silt-veined mirrors grains tilted
by inaugural pain a nomenclature for
my spinning limbs aspects of endings
underpinning nature like fawns caught
in feral rain

untitled god poem

willing us to our knees the petrified
tree beseeched by confession and the
rudiments of prayer lost in a wavering
code dying unprepared
