Dreamt a storm
again last night —

in the bath listening
to thunder.

First time in 31
years heard it clap,

like actually two bright hands
applauding.

And as I reread myself
upturned in the tap,

enumerating Marys
along the plug chain,

a voice from
behind the door said

“all this is quite simple, really,
eternity in the ironing cupboard”.
