“In The Burial, MP Pratheesh becomes the voices of all things wounded in the backdrop of climate emergency: from distressed birds to a broken moon and aching deer. This pamphlet is at once minimalist and expansive – its quivering luminosity emerges from its effortless use of language. Pratheesh transmutes the dark and wasted of the world into ‘tiny leaves’ that bristle with desperate hope for better, more lively days.” — Astra Papachristodoulou, author of Constellations

“Pratheesh’s minimalist poems that always seem to be on the verge of disappearing are too finely tethered to the observed moment to slip away. In one poem he can talk of millennia and his front yard, and in another draw our attention to what is absent: ‘no hoof-prints on the narrow ridges’. Recalling the ‘many things fallen from the past’, it takes him only three lines to come up with a long miraculous list: ‘a wooden box / fireflies and / storms’. He keeps finding what’s been buried, and restores it to colourful life.” — Arvind Krishna Mehrotra, author of The Absent Traveller
