Jerome Berglund: Montage Theory

those who left us
still accompany
in peripherals
just outside range perceptible
Muybridge, persistence of vision

peeling white barn on hill
its one dark eye
regards me plaintively
what frontage roads lead to
Cremation Society

classical rendition
of Madonna’s material girl
fits right into antiquity,
wigs and sequins
layer cake and macaroons

cherry blossoms decompose
nourish the grass feeds the lambs
that afterlife is certain
and splendiferous,
giddying even

from curb
cuffed protesters are only ones
who seem perturbed
by flag on the ground, sullied amongst strewn refuse
beanbag rounds, diced tents
